The Daily Beast and the Daily Dumb

Herman Cain has been, of late, solidifying his place as a serious contender for the GOP. He is now firmly in the race for the nomination to be the Republican to go up against President Obama in 2012. He’s surging ahead in some of the polls, showing well at the debates, and working from his strong business background to move ahead.  This, of course, means that it’s time for the long knives to come out. It was only a matter of time before the media would start pushing a scandal, and now we have a sexual harassment claim making headlines. Whether it was one of Cain’s Republican opponents or the Obama campaign who fed the details to Politico is irrelevant. What is clear is that, as always, the media will do what it can to bring down a strong conservative who is perceived as a threat.

Of course, the Cain camp has come out  to defend himself, as have many conservatives. Decrying this as a baseless, purely political smear, both groups have attacked the media for its double standard. Well, the media, or at least the Daily Beast, is kicking back. In doing so, they aren’t just taking issue with Cain and his team, but with all conservatives.

Bringing you the dumb since whenever

Michael Tomasky, writing for the Beast, tries to boil down the defense of Cain as such: Conservatives don’t have a problem with sexual harassment because they think women lie.

As a matter of fact, the entire article continues with inflammatory accusations couched in ambiguity. Tomasky suggests that Cain might have harassed dozens of women. He doesn’t directly say it, but it is certainly implied.  He then goes on to rehash every sex scandal that has ever plagued the Republican Party, although there aren’t that many. Obviously, there is no mention of any of the myriad of Democrat scandals, that’s par for the course.

He does do a good job mentioning the history of sexual harassment. The truth is that harassment does occur; superiors do take advantage of those for whom they are responsible. In many cases, there is no malicious intent, although it is still totally inappropriate in the workplace. What may be considered simple banter between friends outside of work has become basis for lawsuits and job loss. Don’t misunderstand me, sexual harassment, heck any kind of harassment is bad, but don’t let the seriousness of the claim trump the presumption of innocence.

The article states that “It is, however, that conservatives don’t share the assumptions that liberals and the mainstream media impose. The main one being, of course, that the women are probably telling the truth in such instances.”

This is, of course, absolute nonsense. The assumption is that, absence of any proof to the contrary, the one being accused is innocent. That is, as far as we understand it, the American way. One is innocent until proven guilty. This is not the way of the liberal thought police. From their point of view, you need to prove your innocence beyond a reasonable doubt, mostly by agreeing with them on all their pet issues.

If you do agree with them and support their progressive goals, it is the alleged victim who becomes the criminal when accusing a liberal. Nobody here needs to be reminded of the vicious smears thrown at Monica Lewinsky and all the other women who had fallen prey to Bill Clinton. A man, who, until this day, is seen as a feminist icon.  Conversely, when guilt is clear, as the case of Governor Sanford, the Republican party and the conservative movement have had no qualms in tossing the offender to the wolves.

The ugly fact is that it is the left which really doesn’t care about sexual harassment. As we have seen in the Occupy Wall Street protests, organizers have told women to keep quiet about attacks. This is not limited to off color jokes and clumsy pick up lines, but actual attacks. This is also the Modus Operandi in Israel amongst radical leftists in their “struggle” against the “occupation.” Women are told not to report sexual assaults by Palestinians to the authorities since it would reflect badly on the “cause” and take focus off the real enemy.

The bottom line is that it is clear that the gloves are off. The media and the left will stop at nothing to take down those opponents whom they see as a threat. The race card is wearing thin and, in some cases, is no longer a viable alternative.  In those cases, they resort to the next calumny in their stable of Ad Hominum attacks. Those that, in their own eyes, they are never guilty of. It’s never “rape rape” is it?

Don’t worry about the “racecard”. Those that believe it will be taken off stride, forced to realize that the ‘Progs’ are also racists. Those that have been using it so long and so well can’t say anything because the know this is just as “racist” as the ‘Progs’ have been claiming for the last 50 years. We on the other hand can see and enjoy the ‘Progs’ twisting in pain on the “Race Card Spikes” they have created.
I understand your desire for complete honesty, but just enjoy the circus.

He’s only done if people give up on him. So far he is the only person running without a career in politics who is meeting success. This is a smear and we know it because the allegations were only discovered after he started to show signs of longevity.

    Anita Hill 2.0

This won’t hurt Cain because he won’t let it hurt him. He won’t let the claims stick, and will continue to surge in the polls, gain momentum in fundraising, and put on a good showing during the Primary. Don’t discount him; everyone who has done so thus far has been shocked or disappointed. ;)

Folks, the time has arrived that We The People wake up and make our own decisions. For too long we have allowed the media to choose our candidates for us. NO MORE!

This man Cain seems to me to be an honest, christian business man. Is he perfect? No. Are you or me? No.

As many high level businessmen have found out, sexual harassment is many times the height of frivolous law suits. Change the tort laws and most of it would go away. Until that happens, companies will continue to pay women off to make the issue go away so they can get back to business as usual. Unfortunately, that just proliferates the problem.

In relation to this issue with Cain, Show me the facts or shut up about it.

We, in America, need someone to lead us. To encourage us. To uplift us. To believe in US. To be ONE OF US!!

Of any candidate in this race I believe Herman Cain does all these things and more. I refuse to let the media tell me what to think and feel about ANY candidate. I don’t trust them. I DO trust myself.

Do your own research. LIsten and think for yourselves and don’t just assume that what you hear is the truth because most of the time it’s not.

Let the battle to reclaim our own minds begin.

You know what I was never a fan of stooping to their level, however conservatives have been pushed by the bully left for far to long and it’s time to fight back. The only way to stop a bully after many times of telling them to stop is to land one square on the nose. I don’t mean this in a literal form, but I’m sick of this crap it’s time to fight fire with fire and give them a taste of their own medicine. Thomas Jefferson once said something along the lines of we have shown them we can reason like men, lets show them we can fight like men as well.

I almost hope he did harass them. If Cain has harassed several women, we can elect him and prove that conservative black men are still better than white-accused-rapist-rakes and clean half-kenyan wastrels like Slick Willie Clinton and B.Hussein Obama.
